Lucie Rivet Paquette elected mayor of Rapides-des-Joachims

There’s a new mayor in the Swisha, as Lucie Rivet Paquette was elected by acclamation this afternoon (November 3). She was the only citizen to submit their candidacy, and was declared the winnner after the deadline of 4:30 p.m. passed.

The position has been vacant since the death of former mayor Doug Rousselle, who passed away on September 11 at the age of 73 after a battle with cancer.

Originally from Fort-Coulonge, Rivet Paquette ran for mayor in the 2021 municipal elections, placing second to Rousselle with 28 votes, or 29.17%.
