Brian Nolan hopes to represent Pontiac-Kitigan Zibi for Conservative Party

The nominations to represent the Conservative Party of Canada in the riding of Pontiac-Kitigan Zibi closed last week, and there are six people who have put forth their candidacy to potentially run for the party in the next federal election.

Brian Nolan is one of six candidates vying for the Conservative party nomination, alongside Michel Gauthier, Brian Goodman, Mark Buzan, Jean-Nicolas de Bellefeuille and Terrence Watters (CHIP 101.9 has reached out to all candidates, Watters hasn’t yet responded).  A former public servant living in Chelsea, Nolan also has many years experience in the private sector as an IT consultant as well as a brief stint co-owning a retail business in downtown Ottawa.

He said that though this is his first foray into federal politics, he’s been a conservative all his life.

He added that he was excited to run under the banner of Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, and said he believes strongly in policies like eliminating the federal carbon tax.

The riding will be known as Pontiac-Kitigan Zibi in the next election, following some amendments to the boundaries by the federal election commission. The date of the nomination meeting hasn’t yet been set, but it is anticipated later this year.
