Local food bank Bouffe Pontiac held their annual Christmas food drive between 6 and 9 a.m. this morning (December 1), bringing in $11,877 and around 215 kg of food items. Checkpoints were set up at several high-traffic areas throughout the region, in Shawville, Campbell’s Bay and L’Isle-aux-Allumettes.

Bouffe Director Kim Laroche thanked all the volunteers and partners that made the event a success. She said that there were roughly 40 to 50 people helping throughout the morning.

In an interview prior to the drive, Laroche said that they’d seen a large increase in the number of people using their services, which she said was likely due to increases in the prices of food and necessities.

She explained that it’s also possible to donate through Paypal, at the following link.
