Xplore aims to complete fibre rollout by March 2023
On December 13, CHIP 101.9 spoke with Charles Beaudet, the Vice-President for government relations with the company Xplore, which is currently rolling out fibre internet service in much of the Pontiac area. Beaudet said that they’d recently made a number of connections in the Portage du Fort area, and would be moving on to the Thorne and Otter Lake region next.
When CHIP 101.9 spoke with Beaudet in April, he said that they were on track to meet the completion deadline set by the provincial and federal government, which was September. The government had said that they would be implementing penalties on companies that didn’t hit the target. Beaudet said that he didn’t know if they would be penalized, but gave some explanations for why they weren’t able to provide services by their agreed deadline.
He estimated that they would complete their work by March next year at the latest.
