Winter storm watch in effect, snow expected Tuesday

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the Pontiac as snow is expected Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

“Heavy snow with significant snowfall amount, strong winds and blowing snow are expected especially from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Snowfall amounts ranging between 20 and 40 centimetres are possible,” the statement reads. “Areas from the Outaouais toward the Lower Laurentians, the south of the Mauricie region and the south shore of Quebec are likely to experience a more or less extended period of freezing rain on Tuesday night.”

The statement adds that the situation is still unclear at the moment, and the exact type of precipitation will vary by region.
