Vehicle catches fire in Bristol, driver 4x over blood alcohol limit
At around 1:30 p.m. on August 5, police officers received a call regarding a car moving erratically on Hwy. 148 in Bristol. Moments later, the car left the road and got stuck in a ditch. Attempting to flee the scene, the driver floored the accelerator, to no avail. Eventually, the friction from the tires caused a fire that completely consumed the vehicle. Firefighters arrived promptly and quickly doused the blaze.
The 35-year-old woman driving the vehicle was arrested and was found to have a blood-alcohol level four times the legal limit. She has been released and will appear in court at a later date.
