A two-vehicle collision occurred at around 4 p.m. yesterday (Monday October 4) near the intersection of Hwy. 148 and the 6th Concession in Clarendon that closed the route for several hours.

According to SQ spokesperson Sgt. Marc Tessier, the westbound vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a vehicle travelling the opposite direction. The sole occupants of each vehicle were taken to hospital, one with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the other with minor injuries.

Shawville Clarendon Fire Chief Lee Laframboise said that the two vehicles involved were an SUV and a truck with a trailer. He said that his firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extract the occupant of the truck.

“The [SUV] was pretty bad too, but the guy got out the sunroof before we got there,” he said.

Police closed the road until 11 p.m. to analyze the scene, remove the vehicles and clean up debris. Tessier said that the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
