Tournament in support of Fort-Coulonge minor hockey

17 January 2023 à 1:29 pm

This past weekend (January 14 and 15), the l’Association de hockey mineur de Fort-Coulonge organized an adult hockey tournament that brought out 11 teams from the area. Association President Paul Boisvert explained that they were still counting the total amount raised, but added that it would go towards keeping registration fees as low as possible.

“Basically, we always have the goal of lowering the registration fees for youth, that’s it,” he said (translated). “I have been president for two years and that is my main objective. It is to do some fundraising to try to reduce [fees]. You know, $100 might be a lot, but my goal in mind is that it costs $100 less per kid to play hockey in the years to come. That’s kind of the point of it, but we have so many other expenses too. So, you know, anything we can get helps everyone, basically.”

Boisvert said that the 2022/23 season has gone smoothly thus far, as the Comets’ recent return to playing in the Ontario league has led to more registrations and a reduction in travel for parents.

The full (French-language) interview with Boisvert is available here.
