The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais updated its list of COVID-19 cases in the Outaouais by posting an increase of 84 cases across the region.
The cases that were added yesterday in the Pontiac Local Service Network (RLS) brings the toll to 101 cases since the start of the pandemic.

On the territory of the RLS Pontiac, namely the MRC Pontiac and the municipality of Pontiac (Quyon, Luskville, Eardley, Onslow, Breckenrigde), the number of active cases is at 13 as of March 29. The number of cases by municipality has not yet been updated. The Outaouais has a total of 455 active cases of COVID-19. According to the results of the CISSS de l’Outaouais, the city of Gatineau has 381 cases, followed by the Papineau region with 28, the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais has 24 cases and finally the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau shows 8 cases at the moment.

This significant increase provoked reactions yesterday. Several people say they are worried about the number of cases in the Outaouais, a region still in the orange zone, including the acting director of public health, Dr Brigitte Pinard, who mentioned last week that a return to the red zone could be considered if the situation was not resolved.

Pontiac MNA André Fortin has mentioned a few times in recent weeks the importance of vaccination to curb the spread of the virus. He also reiterated this importance yesterday via his Facebook account.

“With over 80 new cases in the region to this day, the vaccination race is getting bigger than ever. There are still dozens of appointments available TOMORROW (March 30) at the vaccination centers in Campbell’s Bay and in Hull. Advance your appointment if possible! Or make one, if you are eligible! “wrote André Fortin.

The CISSS de l’Outaouais should react in the coming hours regarding the status of the region.
