The Outaouais turns red, Gatineau and the MRC des Collines in reconfinement

1 April 2021 à 12:00 am

The Premier of Quebec, François Legault, announced new health measures yesterday. All of the Outaouais will be in the red zone, but the city of Gatineau and the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, which includes the municipality of Pontiac (the Quyons, Onslow, Eardley, Luskville, Breckenridge sectors), will have more severe measures. This means that the MRC Pontiac will see the dining rooms of restaurants closed once again. These measures will be in effect from today, April 1. As confirmed by the warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, schools will remain open in the Pontiac.

Gatineau and the MRC des Collines will have to confine again
For the city of Gatineau and the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, in order to limit the spread of COVID-19, the curfew will be set at 8 p.m. and schools will be closed for a period of ten days.

François Legault expressed concern as Easter approaches and announced that the police presence will be increased during the long weekend.

No roadblocks have been mentioned in the Outaouais, but talks will be held between Ontario and Quebec for possible roadblocks within the urban area of Gatineau.
