Shawville Fair issues public health notice for Saturday attendees
The Shawville Fair issued a statement on September 10 at the direction of regional public health authorities after two cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at the fair on September 4:
“It is with great sadness that the PAS Board of Directors learned of the passing of Grand Chief, John Boudrias. Mr. Boudrias was a respected leader in the community and our thoughts are with his family and the Algonquin-Anishinaabeg Nation.
Sante Publique has asked us to publish these notices, as you can see if you were not on the entertainment stage Saturday, September 4th but were a visitor at the fair, please monitor yourself daily (up until September 18th) for symptoms of COVID-19.”
The message is followed by a statement from public health authorities, advising those that any performers or technicians that were on the entertainment stage to schedule a COVID-19 test and to immediately isolate themselves if they have not received two vaccine doses prior to August 28. Anyone that attended the fair that day but was not on the stage is advised to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais told CHIP 101.9 that for the time being, the Outaouais public health department has not issued any screening recommendations related to the situation. “We are taking this opportunity to remind the population to be screened as soon as symptoms appear, even after having obtained two doses of the vaccine against COVID-19”, mentioned the CISSS de l’Outaouais by e-mail.
