Shawville 150 logo contest deadline extended

23 February 2023 à 12:18 pm

The members of the Shawville 150 committee have decided to extend the deadline for their logo drawing contest to Canada Day (July 1).

Councillor Katie Sharpe explained that they had originally planned to end the contest in February, but extended the deadline to get more participation. The contest has both a youth (under 18 as of December 31, 2022) and an open category and participants are asked to include a paragraph describing what Shawville means to them. In addition to having their logo displayed and printed on various merchandise, there is also a cash prize.

Submissions can be dropped off at the town hall in person or emailed to katie@shawville150.ca.

The next event in the Shawville 150 calendar is a St. Patrick’s Day Irish stew supper, which will take place at 5 p.m. on March 18 at the Ladies Agricultural Hall at the Shawville Fairgrounds. Tickets are $20 ($5 for children 12 and under) and can be purchased by calling Bill McCleary (819-775-5955), Jill McBane (819-635-6994) or Sue McCleary (819-647-8094).

The committee has many more activities planned later in the year, including an Easter tea, fireman’s ball and street dance, with more details to come.

More details can be found on the municipality’s social media.
