Sandra Murray, Shawville’s first female mayor, has passed away
Sandra Murray, a former administrator at the Pontiac Hospital and long-serving municipal politician, died on Saturday (November 26). She was Shawville’s first female mayor, serving two terms from 2013 until 2021 and had served as a councillor for many years before that. She had filed her paperwork to run for a third term, but pulled out at the last minute due to health issues.
Several politicians paid tribute to Murray, including Pontiac’s MNA André Fortin.
