Possible fraud when buying firewood online

Possible fraud when buying firewood online

9 October 2020 à 12:00 am

In a press release, the Public Security Service of the MRC des Collines-de l’Outaouais would like to warn citizens who intend to buy firewood through social media.

According to what the Public Security Service of the MRC des Collines-de l’Outaouais has observed, these seemingly legitimate ads are often misleading, and the citizens end up being robbed of several hundreds of dollars. Even if the price seems reasonable and current, do not hesitate to ask questions to ensure the seller is legitimate, and, never pay your purchase in advance or even 50% of it. Wait for the delivery and after, you may proceed with your electronic transfer. Also, if the price seems to be to good to be true or if the seller
informs you of additional fees for everything and nothing, then, it is most likely a fraud.
