Pontiac Warden comments on Davidson Sawmill’s scrapped plans
Following the public announcement earlier this week by the owners of the Davidson Sawmill that they would be scrapping their plans to reopen the site, MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller spoke with media about the subject following the public council meeting on August 16.
In the statement, company CEO Hubert St-Cyr said that the reason for scrapping their plans was due to the government not approving cutting rights (known as GAs) for the site. Toller said that while they had worked hard to promote the project, it came down to the strength of the business plan. She said that while this is the end of the current plan, she though that there could be some kind of forestry business that could still use the site in the future, despite St-Cyr’s plans to sell off the mill’s equipment.
