Pontiac Maison des jeunes hosts barbeque at Campbell’s Bay location
The Pontiac Maison des jeunes hosted a barbeque on Wednesday evening (June 14) at their satellite location in Campbell’s Bay. The event featured a live DJ, face-painting, a bouncy castle and plenty of activities for young children.
Desiree Tremblay Giroux, a coordinator with the MDJ, explained that the event marked the end of their after-school programming, as well as the beginning of their summer camp. The funds raised by the event will go towards the center’s weekly activities for local youth. Tremblay Giroux explained that their summer camp, which begins at the end of the month and is subsidized by the Municipalities of Campbell’s Bay and Litchfield, also hires local teens help supervise.
She added that the ongoing bus driver strike meant that they had to adjust some of their summer camp activities this year, focusing on attractions in the area instead of travelling. She added that they would be seeking some assistance from local public transportation non-profit TransporAction Pontiac.
More information on the MDJ’s activities, including their upcoming softball league, is available on their Facebook page.
