CHIP 101.9 has learned that the Pontiac Industrial Park in Litchfield has once again changed hands. Gatineau businessman Pascal Proulx, president of the firm Carrera, has acquired the property, located along Rte. 301. Proulx gained the attention of regional media recently in relation to the site for the planned regional hospital in Gatineau. Litchfield Mayor Colleen Larivière confirmed to CHIP 101.9 that she had met with Proulx and was optimistic about the arrival of a new owner.

MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller  has previously suggested that the site would be ideal for her proposed “Energy from Waste” project.

Since the Smurfit Stone mill closed in 2008, the property has changed ownership several times, and the development projects slated to break ground there haven’t materialized. Most recently, LiveWell Foods had acquired the property in 2018 to build a site for cannabis cultivation and research, but the project fizzled. Prior to that, it was owned by Wakefield Properties and the Green Investment Group in the 2010s.
