PHS teacher throws down with student in the ring

13 April 2023 à 2:59 pm

Earlier this month, a student at Pontiac High School laid a brutal smack-down on one of his teachers while a crowd of students cheered him on.

The fight was sanctioned by the local athletic authorities however, and was the culmination of more than a year of impromptu wrestling bouts between the student, named Andrew, and teacher Jordan Kent.

Kent told CHIP 101.9 that Andrew, who is non-verbal and in a wheelchair, is a huge pro wrestling fan, especially of the legendary John Cena. He wanted to do something special for Andrew, who goes by “Hell on Wheels” in the ring, but before their big match could take place, he had to find a WWE-style belt for him. The process of obtaining the belt was aided by a fellow wrestling fan from Minnesota who Kent met through the website Reddit.

Kent was clearly the heel in the bout (especially after handing out homework during his walkout) and said that he had never “loved being booed so much.” He thanked all the fellow staff and students who helped pull the event together, including supply teacher and professional photographer Cindy Lottes, who shot a video of the event (available below). He cryptically added that there was the possibility of a grudge match in the future.

The full interview with Kent (7m10) is available here.
