Overview of the MRC Pontiac’s 2024 municipal budgets: Mansfield-et-Pontefract
At the beginning of each year, CHIP 101.9 publishes articles on various municipal budget forecasts in the Pontiac for 2024. Knowing that the act of publishing the budget forecasts from MRC Pontiac municipalities is considered a fundamental act of municipal management, we offer both an interview with mayors and the budget overviews. Through this budgetary exercise, citizens across the Pontiac can see the budget forecasts and determine how the municipalities will send taxpayer dollars over the next fiscal year. Much more complex than a household budget, the municipal budget is both a way to forecast expenses and authorize the actions of a Municipal Council in the coming year.
On Thursday, December 21, the Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract presented its budgetary forecasts, and CHIP 101.9 spoke with Mayor Sandra Armstrong at the George Bryson Cultural House.
Here is a summary of the municipality’s budget forecast for 2024.
“This year 2024 is the first year for the assessment roll. When it’s the first year, you have to sit down and discuss it with the director general, and ask him the question: what we are going to spend. You have to be careful because there are certain evaluations that can be modified. I must still say that I really like this budget, because Mansfield’s 2024 budget is linked, among other things, to concrete projects for citizens,” said Sandra Armstrong.
Sandra Armstrong also talked about the upcoming projects in her municipality.
“We have several projects. Our municipality has grown a lot thanks to residential development. We therefore have additional expenses on the roads,” mentions the mayor of Mansfield.
Sandra Armstrong also referred to the refurbishment of the wharf in Davidson, which is part of the projects for 2024. The 2024 budget forecasts for the Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract are available here and below.
