Overnight closure on interprovincial bridge cancelled this evening

15 July 2022 à 12:00 am

Following several last minute changes and unannounced closures, the work schedule on the interprovincial bridge near the Chenaux Generating Station in Portage-du-Fort has changed another time with little warning.

The provincial Ministry of Transportation had announced on July 7 that the bridge would be closed this evening (July 15) from 8 p.m. to midnight and on Thursday, July 21 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning. The MTQ’s website was updated on the afternoon of July 13 to state that the bridge will not be closed, but traffic will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and also on Saturday July 16 from 7 a.m. to noon.

Ontario Power Generation has a list of overnight (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) closures planned for the rest of the summer and early fall:

– Aug. 16, 25, 29 & 30
– Oct. 13, 17, 20 & 24
– Dec. 5

Both OPG and the MTQ’s schedules are subject to last minute changes, so motorists should monitor their websites closely.
