Otter Lake man arrested for possession and distribution of child pornography
Investigators from the Sûreté du Québec specializing in the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet, with the collaboration of investigators from the MRC Pontiac station, arrested a man from Otter Lake for child pornography offences that are alleged to have occurred between 2011 and 2021.
Archille Belland, 56, appeared at the Gatineau courthouse yesterday to face charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, accessing child pornography and improperly storing a firearm. The police carried out a search of the suspect’s home and computer equipment has been entered for analysis.
The Criminal Investigations Department of the Sûreté du Québec brings together experts in cybercrime and the sexual exploitation of children within its Specialized Investigation Projects Department. These investigators work closely with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and all municipal police officers. Since the implementation of the provincial strategy of the Sûreté du Québec in the fight against the sexual exploitation of children in 2012, nearly 900 arrests have been made. Thanks to this, several hundred victims have been identified.
