The Center de services scolaire des Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais (CSSHBO) highlighted the arrival of eight new students from Ukraine at the Pavillon Sainte‑Marie in Otter Lake. On Friday September 2, the students and their families were welcomed to the French-language institution.

“For the occasion, the whole school team was mobilized to offer them a quality start to the school year,” the CSSHBO wrote in a statement on their website (translated). “In the entrance to the school, one could read the word ‘Welcome’ in Ukrainian. The families had the chance to visit the school and its facilities. The children discovered their class and met their classmates.”

The director of the Pavilion, Mr. Stéphane Bouchard, had prepared a presentation for the occasion to better understand the functioning of the Quebec school system (calendar, cycle days, subjects, etc.), the majority of which had to be translated into Ukrainian.
