A young man from North Bay is expected to face several criminal charges following a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 148 outside of Quyon on Sunday afternoon.

According to a social media statement from MRC des Collines Police, at around 6:20 p.m. on March 31 emergency crews were called to a crash on the highway near the intersection with chemin Stanton just outside Quyon. A 20-year-old man from North Bay was apparently travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed and according to witnesses was driving dangerously before he lost control and crashed in the ditch. The driver’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

The statement notes that evidence prompted officers to take a blood sample to test for impairment, but the results weren’t currently available. While the investigation is still ongoing, the man is expected to face charges of impaired driving and dangerous driving.

The highway was closed for around 12 hours.
