New ski lending program unveiled in Campbell’s Bay
A press conference was held at the office of the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi du Pontiac on Wednesday morning (January 17) to unveil a new ski lending program that will be run out of a cabin next to their office. The project is a part of Projet Circonflex, an initiative through Loisir Sport Outaouais along with Ski At School and several local collaborators, such as the Carrefour, the Maison des Jeunes and Le Patro in Mansfield.
Sylviana Geoffray, a development officer with LSO, explained that Ski At School were looking to expand their popular programs to make cross country skiing equipment available to the general public. She explained that to start off, the cabin will be staffed on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and anyone can borrow skis or snowshoes free of charge, on a first come first serve basis. She said that they were working on implementing an online reservation system in the future.
Campbell’s Bay councillor Jean-Pierre Landry said that the project fits in well with the town’s vision for outdoor activities, as they’ve been investing heavily in the infrastructure at the nearby Maurice Beauregard Park, but wanted something for the winter months.
