New crowdfunding campaign for lighting on the Felix Gabriel Marchand bridge
The Phare Ouest organization, initiator of the Félix-Gabriel-Marchand bridge lighting project, is inviting Pontiac residents to contribute to the project either by adopting a bridge plank at $20, a beam for $50 or by opting for the “Je couvre le pont couvert!” plan, at a cost of $100.
“Be part of history: contribute to the lighting of an iconic monument in the Pontiac region, the Félix-Gabriel Marchand bridge. The “Red Bridge”, as it is known, has undergone a complete makeover over the past three years. In collaboration with multiple local, regional and national partners, the cultural organization Phare Ouest has proposed to bring our covered bridge into the 21st century by installing a permanent lighting system. We are now asking the community to reach our latest fundraising goals, allowing us to offer visitors a mobile app through which they can play with the different lights on the bridge, in addition to learning a little more about the history of this heritage jewel,” Phare Ouest’s fundraising statement reads (translated).
“By participating in this campaign, you are helping us carry out a project that will display the pride of a small, quiet corner of the country that knows how to dream big!”
Alain Dubé, the artistic and multimedia innovation director of the company Novom Interactive, which is responsible for the illumination of the bridge, indicated that he had already scouted the structure and that a third of the equipment that will be used to illuminate the bridge has already arrived on site.
