Outgoing Mayor Katlheen Bélec objects to a study stating that this type of research would be expensive and that the council has other priorities. Outgoing Councillor Gilles Dionne is open to a study, on the condition that this study is based on different scenarios involving different services and over a few years. The third candidate Terry Lévesque said he is convinced that the consolidation of Mansfield and Fort-Coulonge would be advantageous.

In Fort-Coulonge, on this issue, the two mayoral candidates Gaston Allard and outgoing Councillor Jacques Masseau are in favor of a study.
