MRC Pontiac council approves $175,477 for 7 local projects
At the MRC Pontiac council of mayors meeting on May 18, council passed a resolution approving just over $175,000 in funding for 7 local projects as part of the Regions and Rurality Fund (FRR) second component.
This phase of funding is targeted at “implementation of sustainable development projects aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens” according to the MRC’s website, with $189,339 available in this round. There were 15 projects submitted, of which 14 were declared eligible and 7 were selected for funding.
Ile-du-Grand-Calumet Mayor Jean-Louis Corriveau was the only mayor out of the 18 who voted against the resolution, stating that a proposal from his municipality had been rejected. Warden Jane Toller suggested that next time around they get more assistance with their application from MRC staff.
The approved projects are as follows:
- Bryson RA – summer camp: $12,821.58
- Chapeau Agricultural Society – farmers market construction (phase 1): $50,000
- Coopérative Aventure Hélianthe – purchase of electric bicycles: $21,089.50
- Harrington Hall Community Centre – building renovation (phase 1): $28,512.80
- Municipality of Campbell’s Bay – revitalization of the downtown core and additions to the municipal dock infrastructure: $20,892
- Pontiac Archives – purchase of A/V equipment: $1,739.34
- Municipality of Shawville – revitalization of the downtown with solar lights: $40,424.52
Total: $175,477.74
