More Details on Tuesdays fatal Collision in the municipality of Pontiac

The Public Security Service of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais is currently investigating the causes and circumstances surrounding a fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on January 23, around 10 PM, on Highway 148, in the vicinity of Maple Road, in the Municipality of Pontiac, Breckenridge area. The collision involving a vehicle and a Hydro Quebec heavy truck unfortunately resulted in the death of 33 year old Eric Goyette, of Gatineau.

According to initial findings by investigators, the victim, who was heading towards Aylmer, veered into the other lane, causing the impact with the heavy truck.The current theory that could explain this deviation may be “texting”. Technical evaluations will also be conducted on the victim’s vehicle over the course of the next few weeks. The investigation is ongoing.
