In addition to Pontiac MNA André Fortin, Maryse Gaudreault was officially tapped to represent the Liberal Party in the nearby riding of Hull on June 22. Gaudreault has represented the district since 2008 and has also served as the third vice-president of the National Assembly for the past eight years.

“Just like day one, I continue to be just as passionate about the dreams and aspirations of the people of Hull riding,” she said (translated). “The recent achievements to which I have greatly contributed make me so proud: the establishment of the Superclinic Médigo, the launch of the work that will lead to the unified campus of UQO, the widening of chemin Pink, the Lab-École at l’École Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau, the only Lab-École in an English school in Quebec and many others. My riding team does exceptional community work and you, who have needed our help, can recognize our dedication and great professionalism. The population of the county of Hull can always count on my attentiveness, my empathy and my thoroughness. My family is here, my heart is here, and I want to continue to serve you.”

“I can’t wait to campaign with Maryse Gaudreault,” said Liberal Party Leader Dominique Anglade (translated). “Over the next few weeks, we will have the opportunity to talk about proposals that will help middle-class Quebecers make ends meet: lower taxes, $2,000 for seniors, daycare services at $8.70 for everyone, the abolition of the welcome tax for first-time buyers.”

The election in Hull should be one of the ridings to watch in Quebec, since polls in recent weeks have indicated that the Coalition Avenir Quebec has been ahead in this riding, which has been held by the Liberals since 1981. However, the CAQ candidate hasn’t yet been announced.
