Maison des Collines hopes to relaunch its services by recruiting new employees
La Maison des Collines, which defines itself as a center of excellence in palliative care. where patients and their families are accompanied by a team of expert professionals through each stage in their end-of-life process, cannot offer their usual services, given the lack of staff. The Board Chair of the Maison des Collines, Amanda Mayer, says she’s hoping to recruit employees as a way to relaunch their activities as early as November 21.
Mayer explains that the Maison des Collines listens to the emotional needs of their patients and encourages the involvement of attentive, respectful and warm staff. They are also able to offer the same salaries as any other health care units in the Health Network.
The Maison des Collines offers a large number of free services in both French and English including:
– Comfortable accommodations for people whose life expectancy is three months or less;
– Respite care and support for families and loved ones;
– Temporary admissions for pain and symptom relief;
– Training volunteers and health care professionals.
– A home support service is available to people in palliative care who request it and who would like to have company.
