L’Île-du-Grand-Calumet’s municipal council recently adopted their 2022 budget and Mayor Jean-Louis Corriveau spoke about the priorities for the first year of his term.

“In 2022, the taxable roll of the assessment roll went up by $109,000,517. We’re talking a little more than a million dollars in taxable value,” he said (tr.). “This year, as I said earlier, we raised the rate by 3 cents, we’re talking 90 cents [per $100 valuation]. The total amount we have to collect in taxes is $986,155. I know it sounds like, I think, a big increase, but it’s only an increase of $44,000 in the budget for taxes for 2022.”

Residents can also expect work in the coming months on chemin des Outaouais, as well as improvements to the pumping station to ensure running water during power outages.

“In 2022, there is a lot, from an infrastructure point of view, I mean it is, we are talking about $1,725,000 of expenditure,” he said (tr.). “It is because, for us, it is the resurfacing of the chemin des Outaouais […]. We have a section at the end of the village where we want to change a water line, that’s it. That’s going to cost us $1,345,000 to go this little way there.”
