With the federal election well underway, preparations are starting for municipal contests, coming up on November 7. Last week the MRC Pontiac published a notice regarding changes for how those in the TNO can vote for the position of Warden:

“If you are 70 years of age or older on Election Day, you may vote by mail by making a verbal or written request to the president of elections before October 27, 2021;
If you are unable to leave your home for health reasons, as well as a caregiver living at the same address;
If you reside in an eligible health care facility;
In addition, between Oct. 17 and Oct. 27, any citizen who must comply with an order or recommendation for isolation from public health authorities for one of the following reasons:

You have returned from a trip outside of the country for less than 14 days;
You have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are still considered a carrier of the disease;
You have symptoms of COVID-19;
You have been in contact with a suspected, probable or confirmed case of COVID-19 for less than 14 days;
You are waiting for a COVID-19 test result.

In addition, the Quebec Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing will be hosting three virtual information sessions on how to enter municipal politics, as part of their “Je me présente aux élections municipales 2021” campaign. The first session is targeted at women, and will be held on Thursday September 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The second is targeted at young people and will be held Thursday September 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A third session will be open to the general public and will take place on Thursday September 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
