Hwy. 148 in Mansfield temporarily closed yesterday in relation to 2020 fatal collision
Motorists were forced to take a detour from Hwy. 148 in Mansfield-et-Pontefract yesterday afternoon. The portion of the road between Amyotte’s Garage and the intersection with rue Baume was closed for an investigation in relation to the trial of Emily Rumleskie, who is accused of impaired driving causing the death of Sylvain Bégin on September 19, 2020.
Workers from the MTQ worked in collaboration with the SQ for the closure, which was to give the crown prosecutor a better sense of the site of the accident, which took place near the intersection of Hwy. 148 and rue Poirier.
Bégin was well-known in the area, as a community volunteer, firefighter and director general of the Municipalities of Rapides-des-Joachims and l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet.
