A two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 148 in Clarendon this morning claimed the life of a 55-year-old woman.

At around 7 a.m. this morning, first-responders were called to a scene on the highway near the intersection with Sixth Concession in Clarendon.

Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Marc Tessier said that a woman travelling west on the highway lost control on a curve in the road and struck a vehicle travelling east. The woman was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries and she was later pronounced dead. The two occupants of the other vehicle had non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is closed while police investigate the scene, with a detour set up on chemin Hodgins, Fifth Concession and chemin de Bristol-Clarendon.
