Heat and humidity alert this week for the Pontiac

9 August 2021 à 12:00 am

It’s going to be a hot, moist week in the Pontiac.

Environment Canada issued an alert on August 9 that a hot, humid air mass has gradually entered Quebec and is expected to stick around until Friday. In this period, maximum temperatures will approach 30 degrees Celsius, and humidex values will be between 36 and 40. The evenings will only dip down to 20 degrees Celsius.

“Reschedule or plan to do your outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Reduce health risks for young children by frequently cooling them off, keeping them well hydrated and reducing their exposure to the heat. Plan to visit and check up on loved ones (neighbours, friends and family), especially those suffering from a loss of autonomy or from a chronic disease, and those who live alone, in order to ensure they are cool and not dehydrated,” the alert states.

More details are available on Environment Canada’s website.
