Government’s changes in flood zones : meeting this Thursday

The Government of Quebec will hold a public consultation session concerning the draft law that was adopted by the government, which modifies flood zones by calling it a special intervention zone (ZIS), in order to have better management of flood zones. The Director General of the direction générale de l’urbanisme, de l’aménagement du territoire et de l’habitation of the ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation du Québec, Stéphane Bouchard, gave more details on the public meeting.

Once the law is adopted, 813 municipalities will be affected by the changes in flood zones. The Director General of the municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Alicia Jones, told CHIP what the municipality hopes to get out of this public consultation:
