Gatineau Hospital now offering breastfeeding assistance service to new mothers
On Monday regional health authority CISSSO announced the return of the breastfeeding assistance service at the Gatineau Hospital maternity ward. The CISSSO partnered with the organization Naissance-Renaissance Outaouais in order to offer the service, which has been in place since June. The service pairs up new mothers who have given birth at the hospital with a breastfeeding mentor to support them and answer any questions or concerns.
The executive director of Naissance-Renaissance, Camille Marcotte-Quigada, explained in a French-language interview how this service will be offered.
The new breastfeeding support service will be available only 3 to 4 days a week and Marcotte-Quigada explained the role of the breastfeeding mentor.
The full (French-language) interview with Marcotte-Quigada is available here.
