Free winter clothing available in Shawville this Saturday

2 November 2023 à 8:56 am

With the cold weather arriving,  a group of volunteers in the Shawville area is gathering winter clothing for those in need, and will be distributing it free of charge  this Saturday.

Reverend Susan Lewis of the Anglican Parish of West Quebec explained that they started the winter clothing drive several years ago and it has grown in popularity since. She said that they are accepting all kinds of winter clothing (except for underwear) in all shapes and sizes.

Residents will be able to stop by and pick out what they need at St Paul’s church hall on Main street in Shawville, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lewis explained that they donate any leftover clothing to other charity organizations in the region.

Lewis said that she anticipated a large turnout this year, due to the program getting more established in the community, as well as an increase in need.

The full interview with Lewis (6m45) is available here.
