Fort-Coulonge Knights of Columbus gear up for annual guignolée

18 November 2024 à 3:50 pm

The members of the Fort-Coulonge Knights of Columbus will once again be holding their annual “guignolée” or food drive for those in need in the area in early December.

Ken Hobbs, one of the organizers, explained that they typically distribute around 100 food baskets to families in need in the Fort-Coulonge/Mansfield area. This year, on Friday December 13, dozens of volunteers will canvass the area door-to-door for donations, which are collected at the parish hall and disbursed the following day.

He added that the event is made possible through the hard work of many volunteers, including members of the Knights and the rest of the community. He noted that the long tradition means that often several generations of families are involved every year.

Those in need can contact 819-683-2304 to sign up for a basket, and Hobbs noted that they will be finalizing their list by the beginning of December.
