Final Public Consultation on the strategic planning vision

9 October 2020 à 12:00 am

A number of reoccurring topics were discussed during last night at the 11th public consultation on the strategic planning vision statement. Among the priorities of the residents attending the zoom conference, better internet and cellular services, the forestry industry, tourism and economic development were highly discussed.

During the public question and discussion period, a new idea was brought forward by a member of the community, Lynn Rainboth, to promote the heritage of the Kitigan Zibi and the origins of the Pontiac region as a cultural-tourism attraction.

Another topic discussed by residents throughout the series of public consultations was address once again, Vision 2020. Stating that he had been present for the creation of Vision 2020, Jim Coffey of Esprit Rafting commented on the procedure needed to be followed in order to achieve the goals set out by the MRC for the next 10 and 20 years.

In response, the Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller agreed that realistic and quantifiable plans must be prioritized in order to achieve the goals established in the strategic vision.

The Zoom meeting, broadcasted on Facebook live Thursday, comes after a number of issues during prior livestreams in L’Isle-aux-Allumette, Fort-Coulonge and Shawville.

Developing a new image in the Pontiac

A new public consultation on recreating the image of the Pontiac is currently being held online by Visage Régionaux. In attendance for last night’s meeting was Marie-Eve Michaudville of Visage Régionaux, who explained what recreating the Pontiac’s image entails and what residents can expect in the coming weeks.

The MRC Pontiac has added two incentives to encourage residents to participate, such as a weekend stay at the Bryson Lake Lodge and a 200$ gift basket of Pontiac products.
