Ed Walsh discusses Clarendon’s budget

4 February 2022 à 12:00 am

Clarendon Mayor Ed Walsh talk to CHIP 101.9 about the municipality’s budget for 2022, which passed in January. This year, the tax rate remained stable at 60 cents per $100 of assessment with expenses and revenues balanced at $3,129,862 and $163,890 taken from the surplus.

The large share of income came from taxes and transfers, at $1,734,453 and $1,172,290 respectively. Unsurprisingly for a large rural municipality, the largest expense by far was transportation, at $1,405,310, including just over $300,000 for snow removal.

Walsh highlighted work on the Sand Bay road as one of their major ongoing projects.

Walsh added that he saw modest population growth in some areas and pointed to two housing developments underway just outside of Shawville on Rte. 303N.
