Cinéma Lyn is officially reopened
It’s done, the owner of Cinéma Lyn in Fort-Coulonge, businesswoman and politician Jane Toller, proceeded on June 9, to an official opening of this Cinema which had been closed for several years. Jane Toller wanted to pay tribute to the Doyle family, whose family members ensured the survival of Cinéma Lyn for several years.
“What I would like to just start, and I hope you don’t mind me saying this in English, but I feel a little bit emotional, and sometimes when that happens, it’s best to stick to your first language. When I was getting the permit to reopen the cinema, I was asked: What is the name of the room? And so, I gave it a name, and I said, this room will be known as the Joseph Francis Doyle and Jean Christine Cavanaugh room. Because Joseph Francis and Jane Christine are the parents.”
– Jane Toller, Warden of the MRC Pontiac, businesswoman and owner of Cinéma Lyn
Frank Doyle also presented a testimony filled with pride and emotion. He also named people who supported the family, such as Wilfred Jolicoeur, whose audience present seemed to remember this projector who worked for several years at this cinema.
« Change the lettering on the marquee and projected the films. At one time or another, we all did it all. Dad wouldn’t let the girls sweep tho. Sometimes they have it easy, but boy, mom and the girls could work the candy bar big time. I’d like to mention a few names of people, a third person that I was very proud to mention also, was a guy who called Zeller, Mr. Wilfred Jolicoeur. »

The mayor of Fort-Coulonge, Christine Francoeur, was all smiles to see a team once again operating in this cinema, which will be open each year for six months, from May 1 to October 31.
«I’m very excited to be here tonight. That’s something, my sweet, that reminds me of memories from Fort-Coulonge. Alright well, that was the place to come. We were here every weekend and then even, ten years ago, I had my regular place. Every Monday, I knew where I was going to sit and I was here every Monday. We are part of a family that loves cinemas. »

The MP for the Pontiac, Sophie Chatel, was also there. She highlighted the effervescence of rue Baume in Fort-Coulonge, which saw the opening of Café Downtown in recent months and also the arrival of the SADC Pontiac.
“Citizens of Fort-Coulonge/Mansfield, just look around you, the Downtown café that Rémi opened, the new SADC, and now, the Cinéma Lyn. And, when I look, just ten years into the future, what I see are galleries, a bakery, hardware stores, patios, fine boutiques. »
– Sophie Chatel, MP for Pontiac (Translated)
Only slight disappointment however, as no film could be presented to the public since some adjustments are necessary, but Jane Toller assured that a film will be presented that evening. Jurassic World Dominion should be presented at 7 p.m. Tickets will cost $12 for adults, $8 for children and $9 for seniors. On Mondays, tickets will be $8.50 for everyone.
