CHIP 101.9 speaks with Otter Lake’s new councillor Daniel Lamarche

19 July 2022 à 12:00 am

The Municipality of Otter Lake recently held a by-election for a new councillor in seat three on July 10 which was won handily by retired businessman Daniel Lamarche. He claimed an overwhelming majority of the votes with 175, compared to 25 for Roslyn Carter and 5 for Brian McMahon.

Lamarche built a cottage in the area back in 1995, but it wasn’t until 2016 that he moved to the area full-time.

Lamarche was formerly in the concrete and stone business, based in Bristol Mines, and he said that now that he’s sold the company he has more time to commit to local politics.

Lamarche said that he would sit back and observe at first, as he was new to municipal politics and the files that council is currently working on. He spoke about some of the changes in the region that he’s observed over the years, from an increase in cottagers to the decline in the forestry sector.

The full interview with Lamarche (2m25) is available here.
