Changes requested to the signage on the 4-lanes of the 148 in Luskville

21 June 2021 à 12:00 am

Dangerous intersection, insufficient signage and increasing traffic, this is what entrepreneurs and politicians argue about the 4 lanes of Route 148 in the Luskville sector of the Municipality of Pontiac. The MNA for the Pontiac, André Fortin, in the company of the mayor of the municipality of Pontiac, Joanne Labadie and local merchants, held an information point, in order to sensitize the Ministry of transport of Quebec (MTQ) to adjust the signage to convey more information to motorists.

Mayor Labadie says that every week, motorists make mistakes and sometimes find themselves in the wrong direction on this portion of the road. In addition, Fridays would be particularly problematic, as motorists often try to save time and try to pass other vehicles at the last second.

Tired of seeing mixed customers, the owner of the general convenience store in Luskville decided to add one-way signs, despite the risk of being fined. The MTQ has already indicated that adjustments to this section will be made next year. On the other hand, André Fortin thinks that by then, serious accidents could occur.

I don’t expect the Minister of Transport to come on site, but I would like the Regional Director to review their decision to improve the situation
– André Fortin
