Candidacy submissions for mayor of Rapides-des-Joachims open tomorrow

Those looking to put forward their candidacy for the position of mayor of Rapides-des-Joachims can start doing so tomorrow (October 20).

The position has been vacant since the death of former mayor Doug Rousselle, who passed away on September 11 at the age of 73 after a battle with esophageal cancer. Stephany Rauche has been serving as acting mayor in the interim.

Eligible candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers to the municipal office starting October 20 until the deadline of November 3 at 4:30 p.m. In the event that there is only one candidate, they will be declared mayor by acclamation. Director General Alana Bowes explained that if there is more than one candidate, the by-election proceeds and advance polls will take place on November 26, followed by election day on December 3.
