Campbell’s Bay Mayor Maurice Beauregard passed away this past Saturday (October 15), after a battle with metastatic cancer. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Beauregard first became a councillor in 2013 and was elected mayor in 2017. He was re-elected this past year without opposition. He also served on the local fire department for more than 15 years.

Popular with both elected officials and citizens, more than 100 people came out in September for the dedication of the local park in his name. CHIP 101.9 Director François Carrier wrote a guest editorial for the Pontiac Journal on October 5, in which he paid tribute to Beauregard.

Pontiac MNA André Fortin spoke highly of Beauregard as well.

Beauregard’s obituary is available here. It states that friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville Quebec, on Wednesday, October 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 160 Front street, Campbell’s Bay, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Campbell’s Bay and Litchfield fire department.
