With the school year just around the corner, a group of local volunteers are collecting school supplies for Pontiac families in need.

Samantha Oxley of the Angel Tree program spoke with CHIP 101.9 about their ongoing drive. She explained that they’re looking for a wide variety of items, everything from calculators to pencil crayons and non-perishable food items. There are currently drop off bins for supplies at the Giant Tiger and Stedmans V&S in Shawville. E-transfers can be made to the email address listed below. The deadline for donations is August 22.

Oxley explained that she, along with Megan Coleman and Laura Fogel have taken on the project from the previous organizers. She said that they would be open to more volunteers to help provide this valuable service for local youth.

Those looking to get involved or for more information can contact the project at helpingthemagic@gmail.com or 819-701-2885.

The full interview with Oxley (5m10) is available here.
