The MP for Pontiac, William Amos made an announcement yesterday that the governments of Canada and Quebec are investing $ 291,678 to upgrade the trails of the PPJ Cycloparc in the MRC Pontiac. The project aims to improve the Cycloparc PPJ trail network, which connects 10 of the 18 municipalities of the MRC Pontiac, by adding granular materials and stone screening, as well as the profiling of ditches on a section joining the municipalities of Shawville and Campbell’s Bay.

“The Government of Canada is determined to support municipalities and the MRC in their community development projects. I am delighted with this funding for the MRC Pontiac, and particularly for families, who will benefit from a quality cycling network. The pandemic has demonstrated the importance for our rural communities to have access to quality sports and recreational infrastructure that will improve the quality of life, “believes Pontiac MP William Amos.

This project will allow the MRC to provide its population with better quality recreational infrastructure.

“The MRC Pontiac is pleased with the support from the governments of Quebec and Canada in its project to upgrade a section of the PPJ Cycloparc trails, between Shawville and Campbell’s Bay. This project will promote healthy lifestyles for our citizens and in particular will improve the quality of life of our families, in addition to bringing economic benefits to our MRC ”, mentions the Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller.

The Government of Quebec is investing $ 145,839 through its Financial Assistance Program for Recreational and Sports Infrastructures, while the Government of Canada is investing $ 145,839 through the Community, Cultural and Recreational Infrastructure component of the Investing in infrastructure program.
