The leader of the Green Party of Quebec (PVQ), Alex Tyrrell, obtained 64.6% in the vote of confidence of the PVQ. Alex Tyrrell is back in the news in the Pontiac after supporting Roger Fleury so that the MRC Pontiac withdraws the name Pontiac. Alex Tyrrell made the decision to remain in office, but the members of the national executive of the PVQ announced on Monday (December 14) their resignation en bloc.

“On October 5, in a letter addressed to Alex Tyrrell by the National Executive requesting his resignation, we exposed the shortcomings of his leadership and announced that we no longer had confidence in his ability to lead the PVQ adequately and effectively (Green Party of Quebec). These criticisms and reproaches persist, despite the results, ”they write in a press release released on Monday. We recognize, however, that in terms of the vote of confidence, 64.6% is a small margin that would have caused many, more reasonable, to leave their positions. This is not a unifying result, far from it.

They also denounce a process “stormy and marred by multiple problems in which Mr. Tyrrell would have shown” continued bad faith. “We explain this result, among other things, by the absence of a forum for dialogue for members within the party, whether it is the absence of a congress, an online forum or a national consultation. He has intervened on several occasions himself in the process, which constitutes a flagrant lack of ethics and respect for the statutes and rules of the party “state members of the executive.

Alex Tyrrell, responded via Twitter. “I accepted the resignation of six members of the executive of the Green Party of Quebec who had opposed my leadership. These resignations are a positive step forward for our party. I wish them good luck in their future endeavors. ”

Remember that Alex Tyrrell has been Chief of the PVQ since 2013. He also reiterated his support and confidence in Roger Fleury, whom he recognizes as a Chief of First Nations off reserve.
