The Pontiac Community Radio (CHIP 101.9) held its Annual General Meeting of Members last Thursday (December 17, 2020), via Zoom. The excellent results, both in terms of listening statistics and the station’s finances, drew attention. The station reached, on average, 12,000 listeners each week and a surplus of $ 158,096 that was reached during the most recent year, a record for this station which will celebrate its 40 years in a few months.

These are unexpected results in this time of pandemic. I would like to thank all the employees and the general management who have enabled us to achieve such success in recent months ”mentioned the president of CHIP 101,9, Diane Grenier. CHIP 101.9 has accumulated seven years with financial surpluses in the last eight years. The increase in advertising sales, a greater number of financial partnerships (grants) with various ministries and the increase in bingo revenues explain this surplus.

Director General François Carrier presented the 2020-2021 priority which is to “Pursue the media positioning of CHIP 101.9 as the region’s main source of information, maintain forward-looking financial management as well as increase partnerships in order to prepare for the post-pandemic ”. “Out of the ordinary situations require agility in adapting to more difficult conditions that can arise. Despite this ordeal having unique repercussions on a planetary scale, by analyzing the results, I can easily say that the employees and the auditors succeeded. We succeeded, with flying colors, through the first months of the pandemic. We must now focus on what will happen after the pandemic in order to be able to continue our mission ”affirmed François Carrier. Remember that the primary mission of Pontiac Community Radio is to inform and entertain its members, but also all of its listeners, about what is happening in the Pontiac, and more widely in the Outaouais, in Quebec and elsewhere in the world. All in order to mobilize, act and participate in Pontiac life. François Carrier also took the opportunity to present certain highlights of the most recent year.

During this meeting, Sabrina Lafontaine, Annie Lacharité and Patrys Brown were re-elected by acclamation to the board of directors. In addition to the re-elected members, the board of directors of CHIP 101.9 is composed of the president Diane Grenier, the vice-president, David Gillespie, the treasurer, Sylvain Fortin and Yvette Mellon.
